Located at 341, Joo Chiat Road - a residential conservation area in the eastern part of Singapore, the site faces the main road with rows of shop houses for residential and commercial purposes.
Outofstock is a multi-cultural design collective based in Singapore, Barcelona and Buenos Aires. Wendy Chua, Gabriel Tan, Gustavo Maggio and Sebastian Alberti collaborated in 2006 and have since been working together across three cities and continents, sharing values of simplicity and poetry, sustainability and crafmanship. Outofstock design products, furniture, lighting and spaces for international clients also received several accolades for their work.

Gone are the days of dull and drab cubicle office spaces, enclosed by plain walls and lit by white fluorescent lights; people are embracing the idea that creative work environment helps stimulate minds and inspire innovation.
This project is trying to break the mold of conventional office designs and introduce a unique working environment to the team, outofstock by reinforcing their office culture and into the space.

The office requires a workshop, material library, a curator's office and working space. These spaces are separated yet connected with varying levels instead of full height walls, hence a visual connection is formed throughout the entire office.

PUBLIC - A gallery and showroom are located facing the main streets, occupying the front portion of the first level and basement areas.
PRIVATE - The office and workshop is located at the back of the building, next to a private carpark. Occupying the whole second floor, the office occupants have ample privacy.
MIXED - A flexible meeting room and pantry area are located in between the gallery and private workshop to hold conference with clients, casual meetings and so on.
The creative office gather inspiration from the surroundings. Hence, the design concept is to blend the indoor and outdoor soaces, forming a transition between inside and out. New interior spaces are parasited onto the building, opening up to the outdoor environments. A courtyard space brings the outdoor elements - nature, sunlight, ventilation into the buiding interior.
